Tanzaca Marine

Where Tanzaca began: four decades in the naval sector

Tanzaca is a 100% Venezuelan company, founded in 1984 in Puerto Cabello as a naval workshop. Since then we have repaired and maintained engines, generators, pumps, piping and hydraulic systems for a wide range of vessels, and today we bring that experience to piers, fenders and monobuoys as well.

Ballast water treatment

Ballast water, in line with the BWM Convention

We maintain, repair and fabricate piping for ballast water management systems on barges and ships, and our experience reaches as far as the installation of ballast water treatment plants.

  • BWMInternational convention that our ballast water piping work complies with
  • Barges & shipsWhere we have maintained, repaired and fabricated ballast water piping
  • Treatment plantsInstallation of ballast water treatment plants is part of our project record

What we do

  • Maintenance of ballast water system piping
  • Repair of ballast water system piping
  • Fabrication of piping for barges and ships
  • Installation of ballast water treatment plants

Ballast water keeps a vessel stable when it sails without cargo, but it can carry organisms from one port to another. The Ballast Water Management Convention of the International Maritime Organization, adopted in 2004 and in force since 2017, requires ships to manage it, and most do so with a treatment system installed on board.

How a treatment system fits in

  1. Seawater intakeWater is taken on board to keep the vessel stable.
  2. Treatment plantThe water is treated before it reaches the tanks.
  3. Ballast tanksStability when the vessel sails without cargo.
  4. DischargeManaged water leaves the vessel in line with the Convention.
